System is at 99% all the time, until I turn of Messenger 8.1. Can I fix this?

Greetings,

I assume it's the msnmsgr.exe process then that's taking all the CPU usage? Does it matter
if you have any conversation windows open or similar?

Additionally, although this sounds silly, have you tried a reboot?

welcome to the new world of microsoft apps. with the new development of
faster dual /quad core processors, they can now exploit that feature and make
those little apps basically completely cpu based. though the poor thing about
it, leaves all the people with slower cpus having issues with an average of
60%+ cpu used on simple apps like msn / media player. the 99% issue is
probably just a memory leak issue with the beta, maybe you'll be lucky enough
to get it to crash so can report the bug. ^^

Hi,

I'm afraid this isn't new to 8.1, previous versions occasionally have the same behavior.
