Instead of the usual winge, why dont we all hav a "discussion"?
have people seen the newst blog at the Messenger Space?
its address is http://messengersays.spaces.live.com...?&_c02_owner=1
i personally like the idea of having the ability to appear offline or to
have different statuses for different groups or contacts. But only if you are
able to do this for individual contacts.
im not to keen on the animated DP as i feel that it wont change much and is
nice to just hav a pic of you :-)
What do other people think? Its really important we let the people down at
Messenger 8.2 know what we really want, and what we dont.

What I want to see:
-The "old" interface, or the possibility to use it, yes, I mean the
interface from the first 8.0 beta versions where I can move the mouse over
the contacts and see some buttons for some actions. (I have unfortunately no
screenshots from it and there is no screenshot on the blog), this way,
-Some request if I want to join a groupchat or not
-make the interface clearer, sometimes this internal webbrowser window
opens, sometimes the Internet Explorer, why? Use the internal OR the
external, but both?
-Somewhere in the conversations window a button to show the contactlist.

regards
Peter

How about designing Messenger aroung WPF, just like yahoo is doing.
Show what verison each contact is using.
Have the contacts scroll horizontally as well, show I can expand messenger
to show more contacts.

Greetings,

The problem is, it's obvious by the list that it's known what people want -- but for years,
there hasn't been any action.

For instance, the long standing scroll bug only just got fixed in version 8 after years of
complaints over and over, when it's been in there for years.

Priority lists on these have been made and existed for years (at least 5), but there's been
no traction on any of them.

Hi!

First I want to say that I don't speak English very good. :-)

However I missing a function in Messenger. When I am in "Don't disturb mode"
I don't want any messages from anybody. Today my buddies can send messages
even I am in "Don't disturb mode". I want a function to select that's forbid
any to send me any messages when I am in "Don't disturb mode". If they try
anyway they get a message that tell them that I don't want to be disturb, and
suggest them to e-mail me instead. Today I must turn of Messenger when I don't
want to be disturb.

I hope you understand my wish... :-)

i think that most people like me will use messenger more if it looks nicer -
i.e. taking advantage of WPF. The features for messenger are pretty good, but
the UI is so windows 98 beefed up a bit. Also, conference video calling with
expectional quality would be nice =).

I'd agree, it would be grate if all the status messages did things like that.

For example: (I don't know exactly what the status messages is named in
English)
If you set 'Be right back' or 'on lunch', and someone sends a message it
will get through but it won't play any sound.

If you set 'busy', noone can send messages to you unless you send them one
first.

If you set 'show as offline' your icon will look as if you are offline in
your friends contact lists. But if you want you can still send them a message.

This is the function I miss most (since I switched from ICQ). Sometimes I
don't want my friends to see I'm online but still want to be able to talk to
one of them.
