Messenger 8.5 vs NCR, The new beta won't comunicate with NCR

Hi guys,

Actually, I think this is not a an issue from Mesenger itself, but is not up
to me to judge that, hehe.

Just something I found: with Windows Live Messenger 8.5, you cannot
communicate with any person working in NCR (www.ncr.com). As some of you
might know, they have some kind of logging and when a conversation is
started it shows a text saying that is private information, yada, yada. Now,
if you try to send a message from Messenger 8.5 (from anywhere, any
connection, any place in the world) to some guys at NCR, it says: "From
System Administrator: You do not have the permission to access this feature
based on company IM usage policy. Refer to
http://www.iis.ncrnet.ncr.com/gts/Co.../default.shtml for details".

So, if you have some contacts at NCR... hold on to WLM 8.1 =/

Cheers.

Greetings,

I'm unsure what NCR is doing for this (they could have a federation agreement and a local IM
network based on Live Communications Server) or some third party IM management solution, but
the protocol has changed in 8.5 which could cause differences like this. Regardless, I'm
sure they'll update it for 8.5 if there's some sort of version detection going on.

What did their page say anyway?
