I've recently setup my kids Live ID's and installed OneCare Family Safety
Software, blocking web sites works well except now I'm being swamped with
requests to have sites unblocked (the trials of being a parent).

I have a problem with Messenger it isn't allowing my kids to sign in, I've
checked the settings and updated where needed all my PC's but it still won't
work. I get an Error Code 8100035a when trying, I have searched all over the
place and can get no information whats happening.

I have PC's running Vista and XP both with Messenger 8.1 Has anybody got
any ideas where I can look or what is wrong.

Thanks

I'm getting the same issue. Have you found a solution yet?

OK! Here's what I've found out so far. It appears that the application is
not working as intended (or at least as I understand how it's supposed to
work). I found that changing the option to control the contacts allows or
disallows access to Messenger period. If you've changed that option so that
the parent controls the contacts, try changing it to allow the child to do
so. After changing that on mine, my children were able to log in to
Messenger. I trust that this is a glitch that will be fixed in a later
release, but this is a workaround. You can still monitor your child's
contacts by reviewing them, but if you're like me, and your kids have 100+
contacts, it becomes somewhat cumbersome. Perhaps a nice way to spend time
witn your kids to see who they're hanging around with though.

Dave,
Did you intend to say something in your last post?

Yes I did, don't know where it went it was on screen, anyway, my problems
fixed after a stream of emails to Tech Support. I asked for an explination
and this is what I got. Hope it helps, it backs up what you said. The English
is bad but never mind you'll get the idea.

From Family Safety Settings Support.........

In behalf of my colleagues, please know that we’re happy to know that your
issue has been resolved. As what Christine had told you, we have deleted the
settings from your managed child accounts in our database which caused them
to access to Windows Live Messenger.

To answer your query, I would like to inform you that there was recently an
issue between Windows Live Messenger and Windows Live OneCare Family Safety
that caused conflicts to some users with managed accounts. If you noticed
when Christine informed you that we have deleted some of your settings from
your child accounts, your children can able to access to Windows Live
Messenger. In this way, it will refresh again the setup of your managed
accounts in our system and this problem should not be experienced again.

We really apologized for the inconvenience it had caused you. But don’t
worry, this server issue is already resolved.

I also get error 8100035a when trying to log in for my daughter.
I set her account up and it seemed to work ok when I tested it, but now I
can't login and get this error.
This thread sounds like it deals with the same issue, but how do I get to
the options to change my daughter's account so that she can login.
Thanks

Tony,

As far as I know 8100035a is a "catch-all" error code to indicate a failed
logon and doesn't indicate what failed, which is not really helpful to people
like us who get problems.

My problem was fixed my the FSS support team after I pushed and pushed to
get it sorted, I had to give them all my family's passwords (I changed them
to something really simple first and restored them after) and gave them
permission to access the accounts. I still don't know exactly what they did,
but all the information they were prepared to give, I posted in the second
message I sent on the 9th November last year, have a look there. I isn't very
helpful but I have advised others who suffered the same or similar problems
to quote the reference number SRX1043436131ID abd basically tell them "you
fixed his now do it for me". Bear in mind that since the problems I had there
have been several updates to FSS so the problems might not be the same, hope
this helps.

Good luck

I am getting the same error code. If my hotmail account is already set up to
be a windows live account ID, then why can't I use my old hotmail address to
log into Windows Live Messenger? If so, how do I export my contacts from my
hotmail address and import them into my Windows Live address
