Greetings,
ID2 files are just the metadata for each custom emoticon. The real emoticon image itself are
the DT2 files.
Assuming you're using the same Live ID address, there is no reason to manually add them using
this method. Simply copy them back to the same location you copied from them on the new PC.
For reference, that location should be:
On XP:
\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Messenger\LiveID\ObjectStore\Custom Emoticons
and on Vista:
\Users\username\Appdata\Local\Microsoft\Messenger\ LiveID\ObjectStore\CustomEmoticons
Where username is your Windows username and LiveID is your Windows Live ID e-mail address.
Additionally, some of these folders will be hidden by default, to see them simply press the
Alt key on the keyboard in any Windows Explorer window to bring up the toolbar, click Tools,
then Folder Options, then the View tab, and then choose 'Show hidden files and folders'.
After click OK, they should appear with the other folders.
