Messenger displays wrong email count

I've been having this problem with Messenger Live (Current version is 8.5
beta), but I also had it with all the versions before.

When I click on the little icon that says I have x number of emails waiting
, and it brings up the hotmail page, i would read and delete those new
emails, but it doesn't always update it on messenger.

This process will continue and messenger ultimately ends up saying i have
alot of new emails when in fact i have none.

Why does this keep happening? It's annoying because now I don't know if i
really have new emails or not.

Ideally I'd like to fix this so it doesn't keep happening, but if no one has
a solution, I would at least like to know how to reset the email count to 0.

Greetings Mike,

The count is all done server-side, there really isn't anything you can do to attempt to
change anything.

Although the count is sometimes unreliable, it's been fine for me lately.
