When we log into Messenger, we click on "Remember Me" (and even remember
password) but when we reboot our pc, it does not remember our email or
username. What is causing this?

We have tried many settings. Your help would be great appreciated. Thanks.

Greetings skynet,

I assume this is in Windows Live Messenger 2009 and hasn't happened before? If so, you are
definitely not alone.

Hello Jonathan,
Yes, 2009. I appreciate your response, but is there a fix? It's
frustrating. I personally spent 7 1/2 hours today making changes in the main
firewall, OS, regedit, pc firewall, removal and resinstall of IE8, windows
live email, messenger, and other items, and was going to reload the entire
OS, but stop short of that to post this.

Help?? Fixes?

Well, when I finally ditched 2009 and went back to v8.5, THAT version
started doing the same thing. Nothing is remembered across reboots. Across
signons, fine, reboots, nada.

Agreed Dragonslayer and no one has any fixes, nothing. It has been very
frustrating.

Thank you for letting us know about going back to v8.5. We were going to do
that, but glad you told us. We are not to reload the entire OS for an
application bug.

It's perplexing why no one has a fix for this. We were just tired of trying
for several hours to fix this. -sn

Hi skynet,

If you have any free time for some one-on-one conferencing, toss me an e-mail and maybe you
can help me research this one (I've never been able to duplicate it).

I can confirm that it is not an IE8 issue, I have 3 computers with XP, one
(work pc) on ie6, and 2 home systems with IE7. All 3 have the same issue, it
just will not save the login info.

After more troubleshooting, I found that the culprit is "Yahoo Toolbar".
Version 6 is ok. But when I upgrade to either v7 or v8 , it causes Windows
Live 2009 not to remember me.

I have since left it as v6.3.6 and disabled iYahoo Toolbar in IE8.
Running on XP.
I hope this helps.

I will coninue to monitor the situation but at this time the 'remember me'
issue seems to be resolved.

I upgraded Yahoo Messenger and it screwed up everything. I have uninstalled
Yahoo messenger, Yahoo Toolbar and anything that relates to yahoo, but there
are two things not working:
1) MSN Live Messenger does not remember even if remember me is selected
2) None of my mapped network drives reconnect upon logon.

Since there's nothing related to Yahoo now on my computer (not even in
registry), I guess there is some setting that Yahoo messenger changed during
installation which makes windows XP to forget all stored passwords. I have
spent 2 days trying to find out, regedit, regclean, articles, internet,
googling up to page 25 .. nothing works!

Any help will be appreciated.
