messenger feature suggestion

Hi. I was wondering if you could add a feature that will also allow you to
sign into your aim account to chat with your aim contacts. That way you could
do everything with windows live messenger. You can already talk to yahoo
contacts, so I thought it would be cool if you could with aim as well. Would
that be possible?

Actually the original versions of Messenger did allow you to log into AIM and talk to your
AIM contacts. Unfortunately AOL fought back against this and Microsoft had to constantly
update the Messenger client to "get around" AOL's attempt to lock them out. Eventually
Microsoft gave up.

I don't believe they've ever released the numbers, but I'm sure AIM is a profit grosser for
AOL and wouldn't be willing to open up to others at this point.

it'll never happen. well. not for a looong time. aim is pretty happy in
their corner of the world. would be nice though.
