Messenger freezes briefly while typing

Messenger pauses while typing (as if the system is slowing down but I
checked, it's not that). The typical scenario is:

Messenger opens as usual, I start typing and first few sentences types fine.
Then I start to get a 3 to 5 seconds of a pause where everything freezes and
the cursor disappears, every 30 seconds or so. It gets very annoying.

This started 2 days ago and I don't know how to solve it. I tried
removing/reinstalling Windows Live Messenger but it's still happening. I
thought it could be because of the new fan I installed on my graphics card,
but everything else works just fine. I would be very grateful for a solution.

I have recently started having the same problem. It is exactly as the above
posted described. This must be something wrong with the Windows Live
Messenger program istelf.

Anyone out there know how to fix this?

Hi grendel. Because I couldn't get any help from anyone (including
microsoft), I tried random things. Nothing worked until I completely turned
off audio options on msn. I am not sure why this problem would start suddenly
as I didn't change my audio settings recently but turning audio off helped.

You can launch "audio and Video setup" from Tools menu. And set both the
speaker and microphone to "none". Then restart msn. See if that helps. Good
