Messenger History Problem

I am using the latest version of MSN Messenger and when I try to go to the
history of a contact I get caught in an infinite loop.
I have IE7 RC1 installed also. I get a IE dialog asking if I want to open
ssome typeof xml file and the history window opens in the background and
says there is a problem opening the file. I click ok to open the history
file and IE7 pops up and closes and asks if I want to open the xml file
again. This continues until I am fast enough to close the IE window before
the dialog pops up. I don't not want to check the always open this type of
file option check box, but I did and now it just loops with the IE popping
up and the history window and I still get no history.

Any help would be appreciated. I want to undo the "Never ask option on xml
files" also.

Greetings Darrin,

Out of curiosity, which happens when you just open up the XML files directly? You can do so
by heading over to your My Documents\My Received Files\Passport+number\History folder and
double-clicking on one.

Where Passport+number is your Passport ID by a numerical representation of your Passport ID.

To answer your other question, to 'undo' this option. Whist in an Windows Explorer window,
click the Tools menu, then Folder Options, click the File Types tab, select the XML
extension, then click the Advanced button, check 'Confirm open after download' and click OK
twice.

It does the same thing. I looked for the option and it was already set to
ask on three different applications.
One of the apps was labeled "open" and link to a shared ms office command
for xml files.
I removed it and nothing changed. I then repaired the installation of MSN
Messanger and it still did not fix the problem. My next step would be to
uninstall/reinstall this beta version or reinstall the last non-beta
version.

It does not matter if the option is checked or unchecked it does not open
the history. If I go to the file directly and open it it opens in my web dev
app and does not format correctly.
