Messenger memory usage

I'm using Windows Live Messenger 8.0.0812.00
Why does task manager show memory usage of 70Mb and a VM Size of 570Mb!!!
Isn't this just a little bit excessive?

welcome to top quality Microsoft applications!

You should see back when in beta the VM growed to several GB.... lol

Are you running any third-party software that interfaces with OE like JAM? or any other
anti-spyware, anti-spam, etc. software?
