Messenger/MSN Explorer

I am currently using Windows Vista Home Premium 32 Bit problem I have
that when I do updates it wants to update live esentials & if I do that
it installs the latest live messenger which works fine but as i use MSN
explorer this gives an error of missing a component click to fix you do
this & it still doesn't work, I have given up at present & gone back so
it all works just wondered if anyone els had this problem & a solution??

What version of MSN Explorer are you using? I have the latest, 9.6, and also the
latest version of Windows Live Messenger and I do not get an error in MSN
Explorer. I suspect that you have an older version of MSN Explorer installed.

Pete, you can find the version information within the MSN Premium program.
From the menu in MSN Explorer:
Help & Settings
About MSN
The version will be shown there. If it is anything older than 9.6, you need to
upgrade it.
Click on More Information in the About window and then look for the Update Now
link within the first few paragraphs of the new window that appears.

If that doesn't work or you are at version 9.6 already, please contact MSN
Support - http://support.msn.com

Hi Steve, I am running Version 8.XXXX I have tried d/l newer version but
when I do i ask me to submit to a plan to pay for it is there a way to
get it without this

That would be the problem, then. Version 8 is not supported on Vista and to use
Version 9.x (or 9.6 at this point, which works with the latest Messenger) you
must have a paid account.
Unfortunately, if you wish to continue to use MSN Explorer 8.x on Vista, you'll
need to live with the error or use an older version of MSN Messenger, until
Messenger forces you to upgrade to the latest version of WL Messenger.
