- Messenger no longer notifying me of anything :(

Can anyone tell me why Messenger will not play sound or show me any alerts
of any kind (including people logging in, new emails, etc.)?

All the appropriate checkboxes for being notified and playing sounds are
CHECKED.

Sound plays fine for everything else (WMP, games, etc.)

This problem began last week with MSN Messenger and I thought updating to
Live would fix it. It hasn't.

Again, all the checkboxes related to playing sound are checked. What could
be causing this?
