Everytime I try to sign in to WLM the contact list manages to load up,
sometimes only half of it and then freezes up and uses around 100% CPU.

To fix this problem I have:

Uninstalled and reinstalled. Didn't work.

Repair Option on the installer. Didn't work

Uninstalled and deleted the folders in the program files and then
reinstalled and that didnt work.

Tried WLM 8.0 and MSN messenger 7.5. Both showed the same problem.

I have tried DTD formatting as I posses a laptop that uses that I have run
out of options and i dont know what to do

Greetings,

As a quick fix, you might try installing the latest beta release of WLM as it uses a new way
of storing its cache of data which may solve this problem for you:

If that doesn't work, what I'd like to know is if Messenger has ever worked properly on this
computer?

Hi Annuix,

You aren't the only one experiencing this problem. But I think until the
programmers fix the problem, don't use automatic sign in at boot. You can
load Messenger at boot and have it load up, but don't sign in, until you
have completely establish your Internet connection and have finished loading
all the other startup programs.

After that is completed, then click to sign in.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I am currently using WLM 8.1 beta anyway. And it has worked properly before
yes.

I've never used the automatic sign in boot. Could it be a registry problem?
Or maybe an addon problem.

I used to have Msg PLus Live + scripts, Messenger Discovery and Stuffplug3
installed if that helps

Hi Annuix,

Uninstall all 3 Add-ins plus Windows Live Messenger and reboot. Use a
Windows Registry Cleaner like TuneUp Utilities 2007 from
http://www.tune-up.com . It comes with a 30-day Trial. Do this before
reinstall of Windows Live Messenger 8.1 Beta.

Also clean up your /Temp Folders of all files and sub-folders not in
use, before using the Registry Cleaner. Then run Disk Cleanup, before using
the Registry Cleaner.

Then reinstall WLM 8.1 Beta and see what happens.

Unfortunatly the same problems exist. Not looking too good for me right now.

Is there any other ideas?

Thanks

The above is posted in microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general under a
subject of Re: Internet Explorer 7 crashes.

To clean the computer, run your Anti-Virus program as well as SpyBot
Search and Destroy 1.4. Also run your Adaware porgram, if you have one.
