Messenger open twice possibe?

Is it possible to have 2 copies of Windows Live Messenger open at the
same time?

I have 2 Hotmail accounts and would like to monitor both without
having to manually switch between personalities.

If I have Messenger open then click on the icon again it tries to
install Messenger(although it's already installed and running!) - not
open it again.

Any help appreciated.

Personally I would recommend against using this program, as it is bundled
with adware.

It comes with an optional sponsor (adware), this will never be installed
without the user telling the installer too...and if you opt out of it Plus!
will still work...

Agreed, and I don't think this is the first time I've seen Paul say this
erroneously, but he never seems to correct his thinking

Hi, Shane and Sunshine and Paul ... I am glad that all of you pointed out
these facts. I did not even know about Messenger Plus!, so am glad to find
out about it. I am also glad to find out about the adware. I have been
reading about the discussion going on regarding paying more money for
enhanced versions vs. adware sponsored versions. There is room for both.
What is great is the choice ...

I have discovered that, in some EULAs, you are told specifically that you
must allow certain cookies and not delete them. This is actually part of the
license agreement. And if you click on the EULA, and actually read the whole
thing, you are aware of these things before you install. I am glad software
publishers are making a point to disclose these things. This is good.
Unfortunately, the EULA doesn't tell you the names of the cookies you must
keep.

I am hoping that, as this trend develops, the Help ... About boxes will
contain the names of the installed cookies that must not be deleted in order
to comply with the EULA. This is important because most spyware solutions
will flag in red the spyware cookies that it defines as seriously in need of
removal. Without knowing exactly which tracking cookies are required by the
EULA, I am hesitant to delete them. I don't know which ones I am required to
keep! Normally, I remove all tracking cookies. But I am slowly coming around
to allowing certain ones, if I can be sure they are from reputable companies
that will not abuse my trust.

So it is good to know that Messenger Plus! will still work, even if you
don't allow the adware. Thanks ... vanilla

Come on, no EULA specifies that you MUST keep any cookies! Usually it just
mentions that when you use the program cookies will be stored on your
computer. Otherwise you can always delete them (some browsers even delete the
cookies automatically).

Besides, I don't think the adware in Messenger Plus does rely on cookies
anyway. Having read so much you should know that whatever you are saying
about cookies naturally applies only to the adware run within the browser.
This is not the case with Messenger Plus.

Regards,
k.

Okay, kashmiri ... you got me. I actually know better than to post something
without my documentation. I wish I had a printed copy or could find the file
but I just did a search on EULA, *txt, *doc, and can't find it. I should
have printed it out and kept it. But I declare that I did see this in a EULA
within the last three or four months. I can't remember what I installed but
I remember being shocked that it was actually in there. The EULA did use the
actual word "cookie" and it did say that I would be required to keep them or
my software may not work right or stop working. I wish I had printed it out
or taken a screen shot.

I understand your incredulity, really, and appreciate your being kind in
your comments ... if I ever see it again, I will print it out or take a
screen shot and come back and post it. Am printing all this out and taping
it to the side of my desk (g) ... and dittos to Shane ... he said "exactly"
so I gather he ain't buyin' it, either (g) ... but I'm not lyin', guys! It
was there in the EULA! But I know I need to prove it so will cede to you
guys ... 2 love (g) ... vanilla
