Greetings,

All of them. Seriously, features like voice use random ports from 5004 through 65535 so just
allow Messenger to have full access to the Internet connection.

If by "firewall" you mean a router, for Messenger to work properly, it should support
Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) which it probably does (you may just have turn it on) and it
will automatically open and forward the necessary ports for you.

Thanks for the reply.
I mean "Firewall" and not router. We have an intranet with 120 users. Some
50 have Messenger. the others use Yahoo or ICQ.
I saw an answer in a previous post with a link to a Win2000 that gave ports
for the Messenger file transfer protocol. Are these ports the same for
Messenger 8?

Hi,

Depends if the post was from me, if yes than yes.

If you're using an intranet just "opening the port" probably won't do much anyway (if we're
talking standard NAT, obviously ISA server etc. are in a different class).
