Messenger Re-Installs itself

Since last week when the latest Windows Updates were installed I've had
Live Messenger re-installing itself *EVERY* time I reboot or start up
the computer. No errors displayed at all and when it is finished
re-installing, Messenger comes up just fine and runs normally. It never
did this before last weeks WU's were installed. Any ideas?

Check in the msconfig by going to start search msconfig or by run
msconfig and see if there is an entry for the installer or anything to
do with messenger.

Yes, under the startup tab in msconfig there is a entry for Messenger.
Uncheck the box?

Greetings,

This won't work, MSConfig doesn't actually remove items from startup, it simply tells them to
be disabled, which Messenger ignores anyway. Plus, this isn't really the problem.

Greetings,

In most cases a full uninstall of Messenger from Add or Remove Programs/Programs Features in
the Control Panel and then reinstalling Messenger will solve this.

What's happened is some configuration change (probably by the update or something else) which
the Windows Installer is seeing when Messenger starts and is attempting to "repair"
Messenger.
