Greetings,
This is generally what happens when the process is stuck. Pop open the Task Manager and look
for multiple msnmsgr.exe tasks and kill them off.
If you don't know what I mean, just reboot and that will accomplish the same thing.
If it still doesn't work, I'd suggest you just use System Restore in Windows to restore back
to before the reinstall attempt.
