I've never had a problem with this before, but lately, Live Messenger keeps
signing me in as 'busy'. I've tried clicking on signing me in as 'online'
status, but to no avail. Please help!

Greetings Brandon,

If you go into Options (click Alt on the keyboard to bring up the menu bar, then Tools and
then Options), and uncheck the 'Show me as "Busy and block my alerts when I'm using a
full-screen program or presentation settings are turned on' (or similar wording), does that
have any effect?

I'm thinking perhaps maybe you're using some application that Messenger thinks is
full-screen.

Sorry to say it, but that was never checked off...Any more suggestions?

Well,

Not that it's a known issue or anything, but it might be worth upgrading to 8.5 at least.

I'm having the same issue with ver 8.5. Not using any full-screen programs
and haven't checked the "show me busy when using full-screen" option. Sounds
like it's becoming a 'known issue'

I just did some of my own troubleshooting. It seems that if I have the
taskbar properties set to "Keep the taskbar on top of other windows," I'm
fine. However, on my work machine (running WinXP Pro), I uncheck this option.
With the option unchecked, WLM always signs me in as "Busy."

Might be worth looking in to.

Brandon, have you checked your taskbar properties? By default, the property
to "Keep the taskbar on top of other windows" is checked. If I uncheck this
property, WLM always signs me in as "Busy."

Hope this is helpful
