Messenger waiting for scan of "contactcoll.cache"

I crossposted a version of this message to the
WindowsLiveMailDesktop(WLMD) newsgroup.

I'm getting strange Norton Antivirus (2004) scan popups, which I think
are related to WLMD (beta build 1172) and/or WL Messenger (8.1 beta).
The popups say that these two programs are waiting for scans of
contactcoll.cache. What's annoying about them is that the two or
three popups stay displayed for a long period, and if manually closed,
will automatically reopen a few moments later.

I'm not sure what triggers this behavior, but once these poppups
appear, WLMD is no longer able to upload any newsgroup messages. So
far, the only way I have been able to get the messages to upload is to
reboot my computer.

I found the following message displayed in the Send/Receive window:

"Your message was successfully posted. The connection to the community
servers did not succeed. See the News error log for details. Subject
'waiting for scan of "contactcoll.cache"', Account:
'msnews.microsoft.com', Server: 'msnews.microsoft.com', Protocol:
HTTP, Port: 80, Secure(SSL):
No, Server Error: 200, Error Number: 0x800CCC19"

In spite of what it says, the message did not get posted to the
newsgroup.

Anyone else having experiences of a similar nature?

I'm having nearly the same problem. I don't use news groups so it's less of an issue for me. Around five people use my computer to talk on msn, but I'm the only one this happens to. I get little alerts from Norton asking if msnmsgr.exe can scan contactcoll.cache, if I say yes it slows the computer down, if I say no, it pops up again 30 seconds later. No idea how to fix it.
