Microphone

I need to have a microphone for graduate studies. I am on my second one and I
cannot get my computer to recognize it. I have Windows Vista and am using the
headset microphone combo. The headset works fine, but not the microphone. I
have double checked that it is plugged in properly and am baffled.

Who made your headset? What model is it? Did you try getting support
from the manufacturer? You may want to see if they have a Vista driver
on their site you can download and try.

And ... is the mic plugged directly into the computer or into a sound card?
If so, that's a sound support question, and what are model & version are
your sound drivers?
