I have a Dell inspiron 1501. I tried to use my microphone and it has very low
volume. When you speak into it, it seems to make no sound. If you blow into
it, it picks up static, so it works a little. I tried turning the volume and
the boost all the way up. I also tried buying a new microphone. Please help.

The playback of the mic has a separate setting for volume. Open the sound
app in control panel. Playback, speakers, properties, levels tab.

Control Panel >> Hardware and Sound >> Sound >> Manage Audio devices >>

(1) PlayBack tab >> Properties >> Levels Tab >> Adjust Playback control >>
stop here

(2) Recording Tab >> Highlight your mic >> ******Set As Default***** >>
Properties >> Levels Tab >> Make sure the volume is set up to 100%(3)
Recording Tab >> Highlight your mic >> Configure >> Set Up microphone >>
Check if it is a desktop or headset mic. >> Next >> >> Next again >> speak
into the mic.
