Microphone won't turn off

My microphone is on and I can not find where to turn it off at. I keep hearin
it through my speakers and I can't listen to anything else. Help

Unplug it !

Start - Control Panel Sound
Recording tab
select your mic
Properties
Levels

Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select Recording Devices.
In the properties page that pops up, Double-click the microphone. Another
page will open; click the Levels tab. Here you'll find a little button to
the left of the Balance button. Click it once to mute the microphone.

Or, as Bill suggests, simply unplug it.

I have the same problem but there is no microphone in the sound
recording tab. not even if I show disabled devices. where the hell is
the control for the onboard mic?

i have the same problem ,.
i get alot of feedback when i put my finger to close to the built in
mic .
so i went into the settings to see what i can do and i deleted the mic
in recording devices and now i can not find it .
i use the Acer HD manger on my computer and i went into the settings to
see if i can fix it there but the balance setting is to the right not in
the middle where it should be so i put it to the middle and get feedback
and have to lower the main volume to get rid of the feedback ... any
ideas
