Hello,

I'm looking for information on the "Microsoft
Chimney Architecture" that was referenced by
Gurdeep Pall in his presentation titled
"Windows Networking And Communications".

Thanks,
Jagane

This is something being developed and as such there isn't much on it... If you do a search on Google for "Chimney Offload " (In quotes) it will pull back alot of the press releases
and such from various companies (networking and the like) about what it is and what it is 'supposed' to do, but as they say, it ain't over till the fat lady sings, so until it is close to
being finalized I wouldn't expect much hard documentation to be available on it... A blurb from the Windows Hardware Engineering Conference (WINHec) site
(http://www.microsoft.com/winhec/tech03.mspx) was all of the documentation I could find at this point on the Microsoft site..

Windows Architecture for Scalable Networking
This session presents an introduction to Microsoft’s architecture for achieving line rate over 10-Gigabit Ethernet, with low CPU overhead, including a 10-Gigabit Ethernet
demonstration. We will analyze the performance bottlenecks associated with high-speed networking today and will review the architectural foundation of Microsoft’s vision for
scalable networking. Called Chimney Offload, this innovative architecture enables IHVs who are building TCP Offload Engine (TOE) NICs to support full TCP/IP offload for
networking, file serving, and IP block storage on Microsoft Windows. Chimney offload gives customers the performance and scalability they need for today's server and storage
applications, while preserving application compatibility and standard network management practices.
