Does VISTA allow Microsoft to legally delete files from your computer and if
so, what files can they delete?

Why would MS care to delete files from your computer? I can't wait to hear

To prevent piracy of their software?

I don't get why you think this seems far fetched. I had also heard it from
several sources, best to go find out to be sure no?

Companies have done worse things to increase profits and the law hasn't
prevented these things happening.

IMO, if (and before you flame, note that I said *if*) you're a pirate, you
deserve anything you get.
And to chrisv, No I haven't had files deleted on any of the three Vista
machines at home, or from any of the 21 machines in the Vista lab where I
work.

It is a problem that has been reported pretty frequently. Maybe you're
lucky?

Obviously 24 machines is not a statistically significant sample, so perhaps
I have 24 lucky machines ;-)
