When I updated my messenger to version 2009, it worked so fine. Until I was
asked to update IE7 to IE8. From then on, my sign-ins are no longer recorded,
and if I leave my messenger logged in when I shut down my windowsxp, I get an
error that reads something like:
"DW20.exe failed to initiate because Windows is shutting down" while in the
background I can see messenger is being attempting to "End".
So today, I attemped to repair my windowsxp using its CD thinking it'll
work. After 4 hours of repairing and updating my windows to the current date,
and reinstalling IE8 and messenger, it's still the same.
After that, I tried "repairing" live messenger from the control panel. The
error I receive was:
"Microsoft Application Error Reporting
Please try installing Windows Live programs again. An unknown error
occurred. hr:0x800c0006"
This is a little ridiculous and frankly, quite annoying seeing how
non-user-friendly this has become. I've to log off my messenger before I shut
down my Windows now. And I've to key in my log-in details into messenger
every single time my computer is switched on.
My terminal is constantly updated and has periodical virus scans so I doubt
there is an infection.
Please help me out with this problem? Is there anything you guys can do to
stop these errors from occurring over and over?
