Microsoft Help and Support has stopped working

I cannot access the built-in Microsoft Help and Support in my 32-bit Vista
install. Every time, without fail, I get this error:

Microsoft Help and Support has stopped working

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close
the program and notify you if a solution is available.

Check for solutions online did not reveal any solution. Have not found any
solution in knowledge base or discussion groups. Not a huge deal because I
rarely need to access help files, but i'd still like to fix it.
