Microsoft High Priority Update

Yesterday I went to Microsoft Update and there was only one available
for my computer using Windows XP. It was the Windows Genuine Advantage
Notification. I read somewhere that this should not be installed,
although my copy of Windows XP is legitimate.

Is that true and should I install it or not?

Thank you for your help.

The consensus is that this is not a high priority update. But on the same
topic, whilst searching for the monthly compendia of priority and security
updates for Windows XP, there doesn't seem to have been one for the past 3
or 4 months. Right or wrong? If wrong, where is Microsoft putting these
compilations in its website? Or is Microsoft now trying to force all of its
users to update "automatically" through Windows and Microsoft update?

Not for the enduser, yup.

Wrong.

Ehm, they are on Windows/Microsoft Update and they may have been
applied by your machine via AutoUpdate. Otherwise, you should apply
them ASAP. http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/current.aspx
has a list of all the security updates released by MS.

Which wouldn't be the worst - if MS would consider to not push
*non-security* updates as high priority updates which aren't
important to the enduser but MS (like KB905474).

Bye,
Freudi
