Microsoft .NET 2.0 update vs .NET 1.1

When I installed Microsoft .NET 2.0 from Microsoft Update, I
apparently erroneously thought that I could uninstall .NET 1.1 and the
HotFix. Symantec Ghost 9 immediately let me know that I was wrong.
Had to reinstall .NET 1.1 (and HotFix) to make Ghost happy.
Interesting that you need to and can have two versions at the same
time. Comments, anyone?

That's by design, Scott.

Same way with the .NET Framework v1.0 and .NET Framework v1.1 -- all are
designed as independent entities that can exist side-by-side -- or, in some
cases, can 'replace' the older version -- but not in your case with Ghost. :-)

It depends on whether the app specifically checks for the version, and whether
it uses any functionality that was changed in newer versions.

i removed the Framework 1.1 too and now i realize that Visual Suite needs the
old version, i tried to re-install it, but now there is some sort of install
error. it tries to write to some memory location that it is not allowed.

Anyone know how to fix this????

Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0: x86 (KB829019)
Am unable to uninstall this update via Add Remove Programs. Is there another
way to uninstall?
