Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0 Service Pack 3, Japanese Version

Windows Update can download this update but it fails installing. No error
message is displayed, I just end up on a page saying "No Updates Were
Installed".

The Enlgish version and SP1 for .NET Framework 1.1 did install properly, but
I'm not aware of an installed Japanese Framework whatsoever. After removing
the 1.0 Framework via the control panel, it still shows me the Japanese
update. After removing it manually as described in
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;320112 it still shows
me the Japanese update. And installation keeps failing.

I know I could easily hide it on Windows Update, but I'd rather solve this
problem than ignore it.

FYI: I'm using Windows 2000 Professional SP4.

I contacted Microsoft Support about this use and this is the answer I got:

Lucky I searched around in this newsgroup and found your message. I just
used it and it fixed the Japanese Version update I have been getting for
about a month.
