I installed SP2 with no problems and turned on auto-update. When I go to
these updates it says I need to install the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0 SP3
English Version. I have tried allowing it to do it and also saving it and
running it myself. The error I get is always the same. I have installed the
latest Java Runtime Environment and even installed the Microsoft .NET
Framework SDK. The latter allowed me to install one of my updates the
Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 which was giving the same error but it won't
allow the 1.1 SP3 Enlgish Version. This is the error msgs.

Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0 Service Pack 3, English Version
Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 - THIS ONE FINALLY WORKED

When attempting to install these it starts to install(after downloading) and
after a few seconds it gives a..
SLx.tmp - Common Language Runtime Debugging Services
Application has generated an exception that could not be handled

Process id=0xd7c(3452), Thread id=0x94c(2380)
Click OK to terminate the application.
Click CANCEL to debug the application.

If you click ok it stops and fails of course..and if you click cancel it
gives this...

SLx.tmp - No Debugger Found.
Registered JIT debugger is not available. An attempt to launch a JIT
debugger with the following command resulted in an error code of 0x2(2).
Please check computer settings.

cordbg.exe !a 0xd7c

Click on Retry to have the process wait while attaching a debugger manually.
Click on Cancel to abort the JIT debug request.

I can't seem to figure out why after installed the SDK package the 1.1
installed but the 1.0 SP3 won't. Considering there errors were identical. Can
anyone shed some light any suggestions would be a great help.
Thanks.

Thanks that would be great. Did you also have trouble installing the
Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 update? I'm curious if you have the exact
same problems. If so what I did was install the .NET Framework SDK(if you go
to the download and info page for it there is another update you need as a
requirement prior to installing the SDK package). After installing the SDK
it failed on the 1.0 sp3 but worked for the 1.1 update. Odd considering they
were both giving the same error. I'd think if it fixed one it woulda fixed
the other but you know how things go. BTW what kinda of computer do you have?
I'm using a DELL. I also have Norton Internet Security 2004 installed and
Norton Anti-virus.

Are you going by the reference to JIT in your error messages?
I think that the .Net CLR has its own JIT which would have to be
independent of Java's.

What is your objective? To install the update or to install the update
using WU? If the latter you may have to do some diagnosis.
However, others have had success by doing the update manually.

Use the following article for ideas (which you may have to adapt
to your exact situation)

<title>KB824643 - How to troubleshoot Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 installation issues</title>

http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=e...6btnG%3DSearch

(Google Groups search for
manually install framework group:microsoft.*.windowsupdate
- sorted by date
)

BTW if you choose to go for a strictly manual solution
you will probably find better assistance in a newsgroup
which specializes in the software being updated.

Good luck

Hi;

You should (hopefully) be able to correct your Java issues by
downloading/installing the latest runtime from Sun.

Well I have attempted to let the Auto Update service do it which it fails and
I have also attempted downloading it and running it. The result is always the
same. So I believe that the problem lies not in Windows Update but in the
update itself. I have tried both ways about 30x each. The errors are always
the same. The error I originally posted. Apparently it is something that is
becoming common. I knew it was a bad idea to install SP2.

Try a search?

The poster you are replying to opened other threads
and posted a solution in them but not here.

Use Google Groups which can order by date to help
you find a poster's latest thinking on a topic:

http://groups-beta.google.com/groups...t=0&scoring=d&

(Google Groups search for
author:blackmischief framework group:microsoft.*.windowsupdate
