Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 Failure to install

In view of all the messages, I think it is time that Microsoft fixes this
problem, since the general fixing suggestions do net seem to help (they did
not with me, as they also did not with all the other persons who posted
questions etc.).

I had the same problem yesterday and after following all of Bills
suggestions and a restore to before the download I gave up.

You hit help. Follow the links to DOWNLOAD the SP1 update. Then install from
your machine. Forget about windows update doing it.

To-day I noticed that there was a new update (november 30) for the above and
apparently Microsoft fixed the bug, because now I could install this update
without any problems!
