Microsoft .NET framework 1.1 service pack 1 - Hangs

On my Dell Laptop which runs XP pro tryed to do this update, but it just
hangs and sits on Initializing installation, even when i cancel the install
it still sit there doing noting.

Do I need to do this install, or is there a know fault with the installation
on your new verson of windows update, if so where can i get a updater for
windows update, or download this and install it another way.

i have a pc here at work running xp pro.

after install of sp2 i get the option of installing Microsoft .NET framework
1.1 service pack 1 and service pack 3 or something.

it all downloads ok but tries to install then says both failed.

any ideas?

I have much the same conditions except that my computer is a generic

I get error code: 643 on the installation.

When I download the service pack from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...B-A83353618B38
and run it I get an error that tells me that I have a hotfix that I need to
remove but doesn't tell me what it is or how to remove it.

I as well get the same problem, I'm running Visual Studio on XP SP2 (on a
Dell Laptop) if that is of any use ...

I tryed your link below which took me to the "Microsoft .NET framework 1.1
service pack 1 download page" try installing it, but as you guest it, it
hangs during the instalation at sit there saying '46 Seconds remaining'. Then
I try cancel it and it still just sit there doing nothing so I have to crash
the program out, any sugestions on what could be wrong, or what I'v done
wrong.

Do I need to do this install, or is there a know fault with the installation
or do I need to install it another way.

So it isn't just me?!?! Now what do I do. I can't get to the pages on the
web that I need to use, the pages I ALWAYS use. It keeps telling me I need
to install update before I can use them. HELP HELP HELP!!!

Same exact issue here. Tried everyhing, even uninstalling the original .net
software to start over. That doesn't work either, the uninstall hangs.

I'm having the same problem (see post below).

Do you have the SDK installed as well as the SDK documentation update
installed?

Glad I checked with the group before I attempted to install the Net
framework updates (2). Has anybody installed them successfully? I am running
XP Home SP2.

I was able to get SP1 to install after I removed the 1.1 SDK on my XP Home
system.

It appears the problem was the Oct 2003 SDK documentation update I had
installed previously. However, no entry for removing this update was
available in "Add/Remove Programs" so I had to remove the entire 1.1 SDK.
Now to reinstall...

What a waste of time...didn't the .NET guys even test this basic scenario!?
