Have tried 3 times. If download is corrupt, where is it stored so as to
delete and try again. Otherwise, what else might be the problem?
TIA
Chip

How to troubleshoot Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 installation issues
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;824643

Remove WU downloads from the temporary folder:-

Stop the Automatic Updates service

Click Start, Choose Run.
In the Run box, type services.msc.
Click OK.
Right-click the Automatic Updates service.
Click Stop.
Stopping the service will take a moment.

Delete the contents of the Download folder
Click Start. Choose Run.
In the Run box, type %windir%\SoftwareDistribution
Click OK.
Open the Download folder.
Delete all contents of the Download folder.
Close the window.

Start the Automatic Updates service
Click Start. Choose Run.
In the Run box, type services.msc.
Click OK.
Right-click the Automatic Updates service.
Click Start.
Starting the service will take a moment.

By deleting the contents of the Download folder - you have removed any downloaded updates.
They would have disappeared after about 10 days anyway.

Hi,

Thanks for you quick response. Unfortunately, I do not know where the WU
downloads are. I am familiar with Documents and settings but do not know
where the MS temp folder is.
TIA
Chip

Apparently it was not a corrupt D/L. I followed the
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;824643
troubleshooting bullitin down to the re install. Since the D/L was by link,
it D/L'd to the desktop but would not intal. I ended up having to uninstall
3.0 and 2.0 before 1.1 would install at which point the service pack and
security update installed without incident. reinstalling 2.0 & 3.0 went
without incident. In the process, I found a cmd.com and a leftover .dll
apparently from a previous incomplete Norton's AV worm removal that
interferred with the uninstall. Thasnks for the help.
