Using Microsoft download or my retail XP Pro CD's Microsoft .NET of version
1.1 redisributable or Microsoft .NET Framework version 1.1 (Date last
published: 5/15/2004) Neither will install. They appear to go 75% then throw
and error and roll themselves back.
The error on this 2.2 Ghz Pavillion does not hang around and as usual
symptoms are inscrutiable unless you look in the right place which is not
indicated by the knowledge base or articles. The "download" version is still
waiting for installation.
I was originally trying to install visual studio and have isolated the issue
down to this only. Since the retail box version does not install from the XP
Pro upgrade CD that is as far as I can take it. Originally as all HP retail
units this was supplied with XP Home.
