Microsoft, please stop SAPPING me

To Microsoft:

This request probably does not belong here but I could not find anywhere
else to post this.

I keep getting spammed by Microsoft sometimes when I logon to MS Messenger,
for example, this last time I got a useless and annoying:

“Messenger Tips: Share photos with friends instantly”

pop-up message when I logged on.

Sorry but I consider this spam because it’s unsolicited information that is
distracting to me, plus, it’s pretty clear to me that the only reason why
Microsoft pops-up this unsolicited information is because they want people to
use it so that they can benefit from it at one point or another so this to me
is SPAM.

At minimum, it would be nice if there was at least the option to select
NEVER to receive this spam again but I don‘t think this option is available.

One last thing, I am a Hotmail paying customer, and I only use MS Live for
mail. In any event, I would expect that Microsoft would have the option for
paying customer not to receive such unsolicited advertisement.

Thank you.

those ads are something that comes to everyone now and then not really
anything to worry about.

Hi,

Just to add to what Skywolfe said -- they aren't ads, they're intended as help screens.
Sadly the registry key which controls this is a date value as opposed to a counter or on/off
switch, so it's not specifically possible to turn it off for good.

Luckily, after the first few (per login) they won't bother you anymore generally.

hey is it a possibility to create that in a future release maybe? and also if
they are intended as help screens shouldn't they only come up when you first
sign into messenger when it is is freshly installed?

So what is the registry key? Can it be changed to a date in the far future.

I am getting this every three days on both my PCs and 2009 version hjas been installed for about 2 months. They have so far not told me anything I don't already know about Live Messenger and are just irritating. Most "Tip of the Day" type things allow you to turn them off but as usual, Microsoft are not like most companies.
