Hi,

1) What does the software support recommend for an OS for this software, is
it Vista compliant? Have you checked with their support yet?

2) You might try to right click the setup file on the installation disk and
use 'run as adminstrator' as opposted to just autorunning it.

Which strongly indicates that either the program your trying to install
is NOT Vista-compatible, or the installation media is dammaged.

Without knowing which specific product and precise version you're
trying to install, it's impossible for us to do the research that you
should have done before starting the installation. I.e., is the product
you're installing specifically designed to be used on Vista? If not,
does it's manufacturer provide a patch/update to render it
Vista-compatible? Has the manufacturer provided special instructions
for installing this application on Vista?

What has ALGOR's technical Support had to say on the issue?

Are you referring to FiniteElements Analysis.
Nothing beats Autodesk Inventor 2010 Professional.
DS SolidWorks is losing marketshare, and a year ago the rumor was their V.P.
quit.
Remember AD is the one who brought us Autocad over 2 decades ago, yes they
were latecomers to 3D MCAD, but being 1st doesn't mean best.
Many banks are called "First USA" or whatever, in fact being losers.
You see "AAAA" - the A letters repeated in the name of cheap automotive
shops, why?
They want to be listed on top when people lookup in Address/Phone/Business
listimgs arranged alphabetically.
Cheap trick.

But you have to agree someone named ZetaForce may suffer by appearung at the
bottom of alpha-list!

Get Inventor, not SolidWorks.
You know what's odd?
IV2010 was extremly quick to install, even including Ansys FEA, versus 2009
& 2008 versions. Good progress, I actually expected things to be worse &
more bloated in the new version, but they were OK.
SolidWorks was bragging their FEA called CosmosWorks was part of default
installation, while IV Ansys was an option, hrrrm... a dubious advantage.
If anyone wants FEA in IV they simply include into installation for FREE,
why is it a hassle?

This error means that you are trying to install something that is not Vista
compatible either by not able to load unto Vista or the install media is damaged and
Vista cannot load it.

Program I've mentioned is compatible with Vista and FEA Algor is special
for x64 system. Other friend has installed on his Vista ultimate x64
using the same installation CD image and it's working.

Thermoboy,
Just to confirm your problem, I'm having an identical issue with Algor
installation, first with Vista64 and also with Win7. Software installed
fine on XP64.

Algor tech support appears to be non-existent with their acquisition by
Autodesk - all mention and links to v23 have been removed and their
support forums have been reset to eliminate all v23 topics.

Not sure what else to try, but for now I'm recommending to our IT
department that the software is not Vista or Win7 compliant. If you had
any further developments, please let us know.
