The lastest auto update has damaged or completely ruined millions of programs
including Internet Explorer itself. Microsoft has not launched a repair or
even admitted this enormous failure. Why?

There are some solutions on this newsgroups which seem to have helped
some people here. I've given most of them a shot but I have been
unlucky. In our case, I guess the best thing to do is to wait until microsoft
steps up and does something.

Perhaps the following will explain & resolve your issue:

Problems in Windows Explorer or the Windows shell
after you install Security Update MS06-015
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918165

Easy Fix: Visit http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm and scroll
down to Item No. 383 "Hewlett-Packard's Share-to-Web software - Fix (MS06-015)"
to download a registry fix.
[Direct Patch Download: http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/hp.vbs]

Note: You may need to temporarily disable your antivirus program
in order to safely run the scripted fix.

Also, review the following:

MS06-013: Cumulative security update for Internet Explorer
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/912812

Internet Explorer ActiveX compatibility patch for Mshtml.dll
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917425/

Problems in Windows Explorer or the Windows shell after you install
security update MS06-015
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918165/en-us
Microsoft Security Bulletin MS06-015

Vulnerability in Windows Explorer Could Allow Remote Code Execution
(908531)
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec.../ms06-015.mspx

For those who have Hewlett Packard's Share to Web Software, there
are two registry patches to choose from (run either one or the
other) not both:

I've made a "patch" back on Saturday available at:
http://patch-info.de/WinXP/Downloads...are-To-Web.zip
(Note this is a Zip file and will need to be extracted. It contains
a REG file which needs to be imported into the registry via double
clicking the contained REG file. You may have to reboot Windows
afterwards.)

or

Kelly has made a patch with exact same functionality available at:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
Line #383 - this is a vbs file and instructions on how to use such
files are at the top of the page.

If you're using a Nvidia video card, you may want to update the driver
for that card: http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

In case you're running a Kerio firewall software, please reread
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918165/en-us cloesly.

Freudi

That's because you're unable to recognize, that you *don't* have
the KB908531 problems, but one with KB911567. Do you even read
the replies to your various postings in every thread that doesn't
match your problem?

I would recommened reading or a visitation of the optician you
trust in.
