Microsoft Sidewinder Precision Pro Joystick

My friend has a Microsoft Sidewinder Precision Pro Joystick
and windows xp but the sidewinder isn't the usb kind and xp audio dectect
isn't seeing it why?

Vista does not support gameports. You need a usb joystick.
