Basically, I was assuming SP2 contained countless updated hardware
drivers, written or provided by MS
If the company that build the PC does not provide SP2 compatible propriety
software patches that are needed to get SP2 deployed
(many brands did offer them)
the customer is stuck with SP1.
MS is not responsable for drivers,
but still, they might take a second look
at selling OEM XP licenses
when a PC supplier has a history of
not supporting a major service pack.
As another victim with a Medion PC,
I wonder why MS is still licensing it's XP OEM to
a company that blatently leaves their customers in the cold.
It's quite bad PR, not to mention all the frustrated
consumers....
