When I try to update my WXP SP2,I use Microsoft Update. All worked till I
upgraded my CPU and motherboard. Now when I start Microsoft Update,it takes me
to the page "Checking for the latest updates for your computer..." ,and I can
see those green cubicles moving, but it doesn't go further than that page. Can
anyone help?

hi:
I have almost the same problem... except that my WXP SP2 is in spanish and I
didn't upgrade any hardware :S... I think (but I not sure) that this problem
begins when I installed the last ActiveX of the windows update... I have IE7
beta 2 and maybe that is the problem but it worked fine before I install the
ActiveX... I hope that it get fixed soon because my windows isn't updated for
3 weeks now... oh... and my windows defender is in the same case and
curiously it ask me to check for updates... and guess what... nothing happens

Check that you have installed the latest drivers for the new motherboard
chipset, direct from the chipset manufacturer's support site.

What brand is the chipset?

After changing the motherboard, did Windows require re-activating? If so,
have you reactivated it?
