Microsoft update dosn't work

Hello,
I'm trying to update my win2000 system with the microsoft update feature
(new update-files 12/13/05 but I get this error-code: 0x80246008.

Is there a problem with getting connected to the update-server?

Your Windows Update log shows a "DnldMgr FATAL: Failed to connect to the BITS service; unable to
start new downloads or interact with existing download jobs" and also error code "0x80246008".

See the following link for steps to resolve the problem:

v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/v···=9&ln=en

One thing, if you have the Background Intelligent Transfer (BITS) service set to automatic or manual
can you verify that you can start this service by double-clicking the BITS service and pressing
"Start".

Have you by any chance run the Norton removal utility SymNRT?
