Hi, I get this msg: The website has encountered a problem and cannot display
the page you are trying to view. The options provided below might help you
solve the problem. [Error number: 0x8024001D] When I click on the express
button for high-priority updates....

Now the only reason I am doing THAT is because I have trouble with Windows
Media Player, in that a video file only plays audio (which even judders a
bit), & standard visualisations that come WITH Media Player are juddery when
I play music & actually affects the audio so that I have turned viualisations
off! Also I've played a DVD the other day which was seemed was out of synch...

Any answer would be appreciated

Thanks

For *any* WMP issues, always start here:

Windows Media Player: WMP mini FAQ
http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html

For the 0x8024001D error code, try this as laid out by Taurarian, MVP:

" Renaming the SoftwareDistribution folder

Click Start, Choose Run.
In the Run box, type services.msc.
Click OK.
Right-click the Automatic Updates service.
Click Stop.
Stopping the service will take a moment.

Rename the "SoftwareDistribution" folder:

a. Click Start, click Run, type %systemroot% , and then click OK.
b. Right-click the SoftwareDistribution folder, and then click Rename.
c. Type SoftwareDistribution.old, and then press ENTER to rename this
folder.

Click Start. Choose Run.
In the Run box, type services.msc.
Click OK.
Right-click the Automatic Updates service.
Click Start.
Starting the service will take a moment. "

Revisit Windows Update. The SoftwareDistribution.old folder can be
deleted now.
