I have the same issue - every time I try to use the update site, I get error
number 0x80070002. Searching for an answer is a trying experience for these
reasons:
* the error message was already used in previous iterations of Windows, so
you get the phonebook, even if specifying "Vista" when searching the Internet
* most "fixes" all actually just copy and past the exact same fix from
Microsoft - the old "stop update services, rename the download folder,
restart update services" fix described at
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=910336
It's frustrating, to be sure. I bought this computer in December brand new.
I started having the issue sometime in January and have not been able to
solve it despite repeated attempts. I've tried that knowledge base article
above several times to no avail. I've cleared my browser temp items (yes,
all of them). I'm logged in as Administrator.
