Microsoft Update fails

Help! Microsoft Update has stopped working! I click on either the Express or
Custom button and nothing at all happens. I am running an XP SP2 machine
fully patched.

3a. Check Windowsupdate.log (%windir%\Windowsupdate.log) for errors
associated with the download/install.
