Microsoft update issue (error 80070002)

Vista Auto update has found a new update, but after several attempts at
trying to install it keeps reporting that it has failed to install the update
with Error code: 80070002.

The included Help and support states a solution, but having tried it twice
it has not solved my problem. The so called 'solution' is as follows

1)Stop the windows update service (from services)
2)Delete temporary update files - In Datastore and download
3)Restart the the windows update service

Does anyone know of a solution that will actually solve this?

I've had the same error for a week now! (Vista 64 SP1)
I tried everything! I've checked dozens of forums, updated to SP2 RC,
used windows readiness tool, windows help etc. but nothing worked! I was
about to give up but then I stumble about this nice free app:

I've installed all the missing updates using this program, restarted
Windows and the Windows update is working again!!! No more this
annoying message about: *error 80070002!

Before thinking about reinstalling Windows give this program a try!

BTW: There are also versions for XP/2008/Office!
