I was attempting to download the updates, and I ran into a problem and could
not continue. The message provided was
"The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are
trying to view. The options provided below might help you solve the problem."
(error number 0x80072EE2).

I'm using Windows XP SP2, with Norton and Spysweeper installed.

Any help?

Please disable all anti-virus, anti-spyware, download accelerators,
popup-blockers, 3rd-party firewalls (re-enable Window Firewall if you
disable another one).

Then try Windows Updates again.

You may receive an "Error 0x80072EE2," "Error 0x80072EE7," "Error
0x80072EFD," "Error 0x80072F76," or "Error 0x80072F78" error message
when you try to use the Windows Update Web site or the Microsoft Update
Web site
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/836941

Start with " Step 6: Remove the proxy server entry from the WinHTTP
proxy configuration "

Norton most likely has created a proxy to scan the incoming email.
According to Symantec :

So, recommend disabling the email scanner as it presents more issues
then it's worth. Also, configure NAV to NOT scan the files mentioned in
this MSKB:

Virus scanning recommendations for computers that are running Windows
Server 2003, Windows 2000, or Windows XP
