Thanks for the pointer, it's extremely interesting!
FYI - Microsoft Technical Support kindly provided me with the following
list on 27 September 2005:
* Microsoft Windows XP
* Microsoft Windows 2000*
* Microsoft Windows 2003 Server
* Microsoft Windows Millenium Edition
* Microsoft Windows 98
* All Windows components (such as MSXML, MDAC, and Microsoft Virtual Machine)
* Microsoft Office 2003
* Microsoft Office 2000
* Microsoft Office XP
* Microsoft Windows Media Player 9 and upwards
* Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 and upwards
* Microsoft .Net Framework 1.0 and upwards
* Microsoft Outlook Express
* Microsoft DirectX
* Microsoft Exchange Server**
* Microsoft SQL Server***
* MSN Messenger
This has in addition to the TechNet webpage 895660 you mention the following:
* Microsoft Windows Millenium Edition
* Microsoft Windows 98
* Microsoft Office 2003
* Microsoft Office 2000
& less importantly:
* Microsoft Windows Media Player 9 and upwards
* Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 and upwards
Note the rather important presence of the current version of Microsoft
Office (2003) that appears to have been accidentally left out (I hope!) of
the list in the TechNet 895660 webpage!
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;895660 also specifically has:
* Microsoft FrontPage Server Extensions (Office XP and later)
* Windows Script 5.1, 5.5, 5.6
* 64-bit versions of Windows Server 2003
* 64-bit versions of Windows XP
* Microsoft Windows XP, Embedded Edition
but really those could be assumed from the previous list.
