Just a guess, but I don't think the AU background activities would be
harmed by having things the accelorator on.
You can test it by entering "wuauclt.exe /detectnow" on the Start/Run
line. In a few minutes AU will kick in. When that is done you can
check the WindowsUpdate.LOG file in your Windows folder. Scroll down to
the bottom to see the info for the recent AU session, and look for any
errors. If none, you are OK. If you see errors, make a note of them
and investigate from there.
