How often should the automatic updates install on to your computer?

I have set up the updates to only install on a specific day but I still get
at least one update everyday.

Its starting to annoy me now because if there is an update pending and my
computer goes to standby mode when I turn the computer back on it won't
connect to the internet when it comes out of standby mode.

I havent updated to IE8 yet, migh this be the problem and is it worth
updating to IE8?

Also why are the updated coming everyday when I have set them up to install
on a specific day?

Any help would be appreciated.

I am having the same problem. Everyday, my computer tries to install the
same update when I shut it off. When I turn it back on, it starts all over
again, trying to install the same update over and over. I use firefox and
have not upgraded to IE8 because I had problems with it.

Do I need to upgrade to IE 8 and use it? Can I still use firefox as my
browser while receiving these updates?

Please state your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; Win2003 SP2; Vista
x64 SP2) when posting to this newsgroup.

Are you being prompted to install the same update every day? If so, what's
the update's KB number?

Installing IE8 is 100% optional. Not having it installed has nothing to do
with your problem.

As often as your computer is found not up-to-date.

Check to see which update(s) you are getting more than once?

Details?

<title>After you wake a Windows Vista-based computer from sleep or
from hibernation, the network icon in the notification area does not show
the correct connectivity status</title>
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/937477

(Microsoft search for
vista sleep connect site:support.microsoft.com
)

Your choice.

Are you confusing automatically downloading versus automatically installing?

You may get more clues by interpreting your WindowsUpdate.log
(ref. KB902093)

Which update(s)?
Be specific. Is there one repeating on you?

No.

You need to give information on the repeating update... That's the key here.
